CONSUMER FORUM -

The Department is discharging following functions in respect of consumer affairs:-

• Generating consumer’s awareness throughout the state through awareness camps/electronic and print media and facilitating implementation of Consumer Protection Act and Rules.
• Setting up and functioning of state Consumer Protection Council, District Consumer Protection Council, State-Commission, District For a etc.
• Also creating Consumer friendly atmosphere in the State by regular interaction with and seeking co-operation from all stakeholders including Merchant Associations.

Association, Chamber of Commerce and Industries, PSUs/Govt. Departments/Autonomous Bodies/NGOs/VCOs, other Organizations directly associated with consumer’s welfare and the Institutions created for redressal of consumer’s grievances.

Consumer Welfare Fund:-

The Department has set up recently the State Consumer Welfare Fund, which is guided under the Tripura Consumer Welfare Fund Scheme, 2005 of the Govt. of Tripura for extending financial assistance to the NGOs/VCOs working in the field of Consumer Welfare as well as for carrying out other consumer welfare activities in the state.

Consumer Club:-

Consumer clubs have been setup in 27 Nos .High School spread over different parts of the State with the help of state NSS cell presently under control of Department of Sports and Youth Affair.

Construction of New Office Building for State Commission & West Tripura District Forum:-

Construction work of New Office Building for State Commission and West Tripura District Commission is nearing completion.
